No matter your personal style preferences, most of us care about our appearance, and there is a tie to health there, of course! The thin line between protecting your mental health while preserving your physical health is important because while the appearance of your skin technically is an aesthetic issue, for many of us, the better our skin looks, the better we feel and the more apt we are to take care of our bodies in other ways!
That's why at the ripe age of 30 I've finally decided to join the bandwagon and begin a skincare routine with one of the most raved about products in the world: the Clarisonic Plus Skin Care System ($225). I'd heard great things from friends and family, but let me tell you firsthand that this system totally is worth the hype, y'all! There are a variety of Clarisonic options, from the budget-friendly and travel-oriented Clarisonic Mia ($149) to the Clarisonic Classic ($195), but after using the newest variety, the Clarisonic Plus, which is the first Clarisonic for use on the face AND body, I can already tell a difference in the way my skin looks and feels and it's only been a week so far!
Clarisonic is, as the name suggests, a type of sonic skin care for the face AND body. The rechargeable brush head operates at a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth skin, getting makeup, dirt, and oil out of cracks and crevices that you didn't even know existed until you see how smooth your skin is after use! It does a great job of stimulating one's skin, and is fantastic at getting your face REALLY clean. I've always had a hard time getting makeup off of my face without using three or four products separately, but the Gentle Hydro Cleanser ($25) and the "Normal" Clarisonic brush head does the trick in no time. Best of all, if you're already attached to a facial or body cleanser, you can use it with the system! Whatever product you choose to use, the Clarisonic infuses it into the outermost layer of the skin, immediately soothing your pores and leaving your skin looking refreshed and firm...and silky smooth.
Switching out the facial brush head for the body is a breeze and this perhaps is my favorite feature of the Clarisonic Plus – I love how it smoothes my body skin, especially my back, in minutes, and the Refining Skin Polish ($25) is divine. The system is waterproof so you can take it with you in the shower, and since there are three speeds (other systems only have two) you can switch strengths for more sensitive body parts. Because each full charge allows for about 30 minutes of usage (10 minutes longer than the other systems) you don't have to worry about running out of power just as you start polishing!
Another complementary product for people who suffer from puffy eyes and/or redness is sister product Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System ($185). It uses the same sonic powers to target under the eyes for maximum hydration. While I myself don't currently have these problems (but during allergy and hay fever season I may be singing a different tune) my girlfriend with hereditary undereye bags swears by this as the only product that keeps her from looking exhausted even after a good night's sleep.
